A Safe Alternative to Surgical Facelifts

In addition to exotic facials, deep tissue massage, and body wraps many spas are adding a new selection to their menu: facial acupuncture.

In an age where a significant segment of the population is looking for ways to halt or at least slow down the aging process, some attempts to turn back the clock are highly invasive and can be downright dangerous.  Recently celebrity Heidi Montag publicly discussed her harrowing experiences with too many plastic surgery procedures.  Though it’s hard to fathom why a beautiful 23 year old girl would put herself through such an ordeal, it’s not uncommon in Hollywood.  And it’s pretty common among the “rest of us” as well. Sometimes the promise of youth and beauty is too strong to resist.

An alternative to surgery.

However, for those who want to avoid the knife, there is a far less invasive way to do something about sagging muscle tone and wrinkles.  It doesn’t carry the steep price tag of a surgical facelift and it’s also free of bad side effects often seen in procedures like Botox injections.  It’s called facial acupuncture and more and more practitioners are offering it as a natural alternative to facelifts.

Don’t expect the same lasting results, though.  In a surgical facelift extra fat is removed and underlying facial muscles are tightened. However, facial acupuncture doesn’t cost the thousands of dollars you can expect to pay for a surgical facelift . . . and it’s safe.

If you choose facial acupuncture, you may need up to 25 treatments before you see results. Acupuncture works by delivering more blood and energy flow to the face, which in turn improves muscle tone. Needles are strategically placed in wrinkles and sagging areas.  Treatments take about an hour, and people who have experienced facial acupuncture say it’s relaxing. Not only that, but some claim the psychological boost they receive may help with what they perceive to be improvements.

The bottom line is that nothing will stop the aging process forever.  Some would argue we’d all be better off if we could just learn to age gracefully and not worry about the lines on our face.  It’s the wisdom behind them that’s most important after all.
