Clinical Trials:
According to a 1996 – 1997 study by the Community Holistic Health Center in Carrboro, NC, of the 126 subjects who completed the study, one or more positive effects were reported by 99 of the 105 participants with specific health problems, and by 13 of the 21 participants with no specific health problems. 103 of the total 126 participants experienced positive effects. 98% reported pain relief; 96% reported relaxation; 94% reported improvement of sleep quality; and 81% reported an increase in energy level.  Five previous Russian studies from the 1980s found more dramatic health effects including reduction of inflammation, slowing of tumor growth, and other serious benefits, although the American study focused only on pain- and stress-relief, sleep and energy levels.
