A simply remedy is vinegar and water. The mixture should be one part vinegar to one part water. Hydrogen peroxide and water can also be used if vinegar is not available. This solution should be mixed at a ratio of one parts hydrogen peroxide to two parts distilled water.

Just a few drops of the hydrogen peroxide tonic can help to dry the ears quickly. Applying a few drops of either solution in healthy ears following showers may also be helpful in discouraging bacteria growth and preventing recurring problems.

I'm in the pool a lot to train, and sometimes I am bothered by "swimmer's ear." To help relieve the discomfort, I've found that using a hair-dryer can help to dry as much moisture as possible inside the ear. Make sure it's on a low setting so that it will not burn the skin. Also make sure you keep the dryer moving so that your ear doesn't get too hot.
