Searching for acid reflux cures? If you’re tired of the painful symptoms of acid reflux then looking for an answer is certainly understandable. After all, “suffering through” can make for some miserable days.  The chest discomfort, painful burning as acids from your stomach recede into your throat and esophagus . . . not only is it uncomfortable, it can lead to more dangerous conditions – including cancer.

There are plenty of medications on the market to treat acid reflux but they come with some serious potential side effects.  The good news is in many cases you can forego these dangerous medications completely and opt for natural cures instead.

Here are 7 natural acid reflux cures you probably have in your kitchen pantry or refrigerator right now.  No need to worry about side effects or drug interactions, either.

Water: Drink a glass of water after a meal to dilute stomach acids and make sure all of your food is washed down properly.  It’s simple, plentiful, and it works!

Apples: There’s a reason for the old adage, “An apple a day will keep the doctor away.”  They are filled with powerful nutrients and vitamins that can counter-attack many unpleasant conditions.  This delicious red fruit can even help with your acid reflux.  Just make sure you chew them well for proper digestion and delivery of nutrients.

Milk: Many people immediately assume that milk will only perpetuate a sour stomach, but the opposite is actually true. Milk works to coat the lining of the esophagus and stomach and has a calming effect. And, the good thing about drinking milk for acid reflux is that it works almost immediately.

Apple cider vinegar: You have to be careful here.  Vinegar is highly acidic and if taken for a long period of time it can damage your esophagus.  But if you have a sudden attack some suggest taking a few tablespoons straight from the bottle.  To keep your reflux under control, dilute two tablespoons in a glass of water and drink once a day.

Almonds: Almonds contain oils that have been known to soothe acid reflux.  Eat five or six and chew slowly for relief of symptoms.

Ginger: Candied ginger is a tasty way to tame acid reflux.  Just chew on a piece when you feel it coming on or add it to warm tea.

Chamomile tea: Slowly sip a cup of soothing, warm chamomile tea to lessen the discomfort of reflux.

Your problems with acid reflux could be diet related.  Pay attention to the foods that tend to trigger an attack and avoid them when possible.  Fried foods, sodas, coffee, hot and spicy foods, and processed foods are notorious for bringing on the painful burning and reflux.

Also, certain lifestyle factors could be causing your problems.  Smoking can make you prone to reflux and if you’re overweight you’re more likely to struggle with reflux as well.  You can try wearing less restrictive clothing around the midsection and rather than eat three big meals a day, spread your food out over smaller, more frequent meals.

If you’re currently taking prescription medications but would like to try natural acid reflux cures instead, make sure to talk to your doctor before you stop taking any medications.
