What tactics do you use to fight aging? Eating right? Exercise? Plastic surgery? While it’s impossible to stop the aging process completely (even with plastic surgery), it is possible to slow it down and decrease its impact on the way you look and feel. And if you haven’t heard, now you can add red wine to the list of things that can help slow down the aging process! New research has revealed that resveratrol, a natural compound commonly found in red wine, grapes, and pomegranates can help combat the effects of aging.
A diet rich in high-fiber, low-fat foods can keep you running like a well-oiled machine, as can regular, vigorous aerobic activity and weight-lifting or weight-bearing exercises. And if you haven’t heard, now you can add red wine to the list of things that can help slow down the aging process! New research has revealed that resveratrol, a natural compound commonly found in red wine, grapes, and pomegranates can help combat the effects of aging.
Researchers tested low doses of resveratrol on mice, and found that it mimicked the effects of a restricted calorie diet (defined as a diet with 20 to 30 percent fewer calories than the average diet). Restricted calorie diets have shown promise in their ability to increase longevity.
So, feel free to enjoy a glass of wine with your dinner—just remember that the health benefits are only successful when consumed in moderation. One glass of wine an evening for women is considered acceptable, with no more than two within the healthy range for men. If you don’t care for wine, supplements containing resveratrol are an option. Also, consider trying some of these natural anti-aging supplements:
B-Complex
Vitamins containing a blend of B6, B12 and folic acid strengthen the immune system and help skin retain a smooth, supple texture.
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
Taking this supplement as you age helps to replace the CoQ10 your body loses over time. Vital to healthy cell function, CoQ10 regulates how fats and sugars are converted into energy.
Fish Oil
The National Institute of Health has confirmed that omega-3 fatty acids can help decrease mortality caused by heart disease. Omega-3s also improve artery health and prevent age-related memory loss and brain function.
Green Tea
The extract from green tea leaves contains the powerful antioxidants polyphenols and flavonoids, which help DNA maintain its structure and protect the body against the aging effects of free-radicals.
Nanoplastics are extremely small plastic particles that range in size from 1 to 1000 nanometers (nm) To put this in perspective, they are much smaller than microplastics, which are typically less than 5 millimeters in size. Nanoplastics are so tiny that they are invisible to the naked eye and even under a simple microscope These […]
What is NAD? NAD, short for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a vital molecule found in every cell of your body, playing a key role in energy production, DNA repair, and overall cellular health. Often referred to as the “powerhouse molecule,” NAD levels naturally decline with age, leading to decreased energy, slower metabolism, and accelerated aging. […]
